Brighton and Hove Albion 2 – 4 Stockport County
Oh dear.
More carnage at Withdean, as Albion take their tally to 11 conceded in a week, 9 of those being in the one and a half games new keeper Graeme Smith has played. It bodes well.
The game won’t be forgotten in a hurry though – 6 goals, a missed penalty, 3 red cards, shambolic defending…what an absolute circus!
After Forster made the breakthrough, Albion conceded immediately for the second time in 4 days, and it never looked like being our day after that. Schoolboy defending and a super finish allowed Stockport to go ahead, but Albion hit back through a deflected Liam Dickinson effort.
This was when the fun began though – a deserved second booking for Elphick saw Colin Hawkins make a return to the first time after being dropped for most of the year. And what a return it was, with the lumbering oaf being sent off within moments of coming on. Incredible!
Naturally Stockport went on to win the game 4-2, although had a man sent of themselves for kicking the ball away. Stupid really.
The positives then – well at least we can score now, new signing Elliot Bennett looked promising until he tired, Dickinson looked good again and we finally saw an appearance from the composed Gary Dicker in the middle of the park. Oh, and the Hawkins incident was frankly bloody hilarious.
What a shambles – Slade won’t be sleeping well after this week!
