Swansea City 3-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Well, at least we can concentrate on the league now.
Lets be honest, Brighton and Hove Albion were never going to win the Carling Cup. The most we could have hoped for was a glamour tie ala last season. And for all the fun that magical Withdean evening was, it didn’t exactly help our season did it?
So what was the point in the Swansea game. Well, we were utterly outclassed by a Championship team - which just goes to show the gulf in class that there is between the current Albion team and the league above. Hopefully, the fact that we didn’t muster a shot on goal throughout the ninety minutes would point to something needing to be done to the midfield in order to create a chance - playing Gary Dicker would be a bloody good start. The lack of goal threat would also point to the fact that, despite Glenn Murray wanting away, he needs to be starting if we are going to score.
So, all in all, a pretty disappointing trip. But if Mr Slade has learnt something about his side and is able to put it right and get something other than the annual defeat at Griffin Park, then maybe some good will have come of our brief Carling Cup forray.
