6 Games Left For Russell Slade?
On last weeks Albion Moan-In Webcast (now available for download) we discussed how the next 8 games will most likely decide Russell Slades future as manager of Brighton and Hove Albion.
With two of the 8 games down, it’s one win and a loss.
Gillingham were dispatched 2-0 at the Withdean, but at the weekend, the Seagulls once again went down in a game where they failed to finish with 11 men on the pitch. Tranmere were expected to be somewhat of an easy scalp, what with physio Les Parry acting as caretaker manager, but somehow the home side got a result. Was this Tranmere showing the sort of form that took them to 7th place last season? or Brighton just being poor? One thing that is poor is the Albion’s deciplinary record, Glenn Murray was the sixth player to see red this season, certainly not the best way to try to win the fans over. Poor Russell must be pulling his hair out. (Cue reader groaning)
Next up are home games against Oldham and Hartlepool. A haul of less than 4 points from these two fixtures will be a huge disappointment.
Following back-to-back home games, the Albion are coming up against Southampton, Leeds, Norwich and Charlton. With both the Saints and Canaries having found some form in recent weeks, it spells very bad news for Brighton.
Tuesday December 1st 2009 may not be remembered for the consumption of the first piece of confectionary from your Advent calendar, it could well be eclipsed by the last time a Brighton team take to the field under the leadership of Mr Slade.

Rumour had it Slade had the last 3 games to prove himself – if tony doesn’t deem 3 points from 9 good enough, then big russ might get the chop this week!
As much as we all know RS is a lovely man, and WANT him to succeed, football is all about results. Managers know that, fans know it, and chairman are certainly aware of it.
I’d give him until the end of the year, unless it really goes tits up and we’re getting beat week in, week out.
