Yeovil 2-2 Brighton and Hove Albion
Has there been a more disappointing result this season? Bearing in mind that we have shipped seven on a Tuesday night at Huddersfield and only won once at home all season, the fact that the answer to that question is probably no denotes that Huish Park was once again an unhappy hunting ground for the Albion.
On the face of it, a point away from home is a good point. But if you scratch a little deeper, it becomes clear that only coming away with a draw was nothing short of a monumental cock up. Even if you ignore the fact that we threw away a 2-0 lead, Yeovil are one of the poorest sides in the league with their first 11 out, and yet today they were missing several first choice players. It certainly is a case of two points dropped.
Gavin Hoyte, the highly rated Arsenal reserve team captain made his debut at right back. Adam Virgo found himself on the bench, which was a massive shock bearing in mind his rumored contractual clause to play every game. The Albion went 2-0 up before half time, Andrew Crofts netting after just six minutes and Liam Dickinson adding one before half time.
2-0 up against a pretty poor side, the Albion should have been like sharks sniffing the blood and move in for the kill. Unfortunately, they were more like a school of flounders in the second half as they sat back, invited Yeovil on and paid the price with two goals from Scott Murray rescuing what at half time seemed like an unlikely point for the hosts.
A disappointing result in a disappointing season – we need a turn around. And fast.
