Time to worry?
Is it too early to be worried about our January Transfer Window deals so far?
We’ve spent a grand sum of £0.00p under Poyet so far. Now, admittedly it’s only a week into a very snowy January, but I’m concerned. We’ve signed a Spanish right back in Inigo Calderon, we’re resigning Hoyte (a right back), and we’re taken Seb Carole back for a third spell at the club on a weekly contract basis.
That leaves us with Bennett, Cox and Carole on the right of midfield, and just McLeod on the left. It leaves us with Whing, Hoyte and Calderson at right back, and just McNulty at left back.
Hopefully something will come of the rumour that we’re interested in Hartlepool’s goalscoring winger Andy Monkhouse, otherwise our only real midfield threat will be from Bennett, and skipper Andrew Crofts, who has certainly found form in front of goal of late. Let’s hope he can keep it up.
It was reported in the Mail on Sunday that Poyet had £4 million to spend. Well I think that’s looking pretty unlikely right now. Still, let’s hope Bloom spends some money in the next 3 weeks. Even if he isn’t int he country at the moment…
In other news, we’ve drawn Villa away in the cup. A cracking draw, and we should take 6000 supporters to the Midlands but it seems as though many supporters are having ticket difficulties with the new website. No surprise there then. When it comes to our club selling tickets, the words “Piss”, “up” and “Brewery” spring to mind. One day they’ll get it right. One day…
