Reasons we won’t go down
Ok, so after last nights magnificent performance, I’m feeling quite positive about the rest of this season. Here’s why:
1) Poyet is learning from his mistakes. For example, he has already dropped Seb Carole.
2) Elphick, Virgo, El-Abd - all defenders that are finally performing as we know they can.
3) Elliott Bennett. I’m quite happy for him to shoot from range if he can do that. Kapow!
4) Glenn Murray. Shame he was ill the other night, as away from home he’s been a class act of late, and even the supporters are singing his name. If he can nick one at Withdean and the goals flow after that, we’ll have a superb player on our hands.
5) Inigo Calderon. The League 1 Carles Puyol?
6) Alan Navarro. Gone is the man of the beginning of the season. Under Poyet, Navarro has relished in a holding roll, breaking up play particularly effectively.
7) Gary Dicker and Andrew Crofts. While Navarro is beginning to show his true colours, these two are still performing well. Are there many better combinations of midfielders to win the ball, spread the play, and chip in with the odd goal?
8 ) Lua Lua. The most exciting Albion wideman in a long time. Sign hm up!
9) Marcos Painter. He’s gone quietly about his business, but what a pleasure it is to have a comfortable left back on the ball who can perform.
10) We’re already out of the relegation zone, and a win against struggling Exeter on Saturday could put a fair gap between us and the bottom 3.
11) Away support. How GOOD was that last night?
12) And let’s not forget the nice incentive to the players of that small development up the roar. The arch is up, the West Stand is going up, and the project is really coming together. Championship football at Falmer in August 2011? It’s still possible!
Looking good isn’t it?
However, watch out for our “Reasons we will go down” article, shortly after we’ve suffered a depressing 1-0 defeat to Exeter at Withdean on Saturday, with the goal coming in the 94th minute.
And if that scenario does happen, this week would probably sum up our season perfectly.
