The AMEX – Season Ticket Prices
So, prices have finally been announced for The American Express Community Stadium at Falmer. And we’re pretty impressed with them. Check them out here.
£395 (£17ish a game) is a bargain, and it’s particularly good that you can spread payment out over 12 months on a direct debit should you wish. Even the most expensive seats, at £545, only equate to about £27 a match, which isn’t as sky high as one might have thought, especially when you consider that as things stand, we’ll be playing in The Championship next season!
One negative though: Under 21 prices have been scrapped in favour of an Under 18 price, while there’s no NUS discount. That’s a surprise when you consider that the stadium is on the site of two Universities, but you’d hope that club will make amends for that when it comes to buying seats on general sale on a match-by-match basis, as students won’t be around much at Christmas and Easter, and will probably be too busy out on the piss in town to turn up to evening games.

Another interesting point: The Travel Voucher. Much to the delight of locals, the travel voucher isn’t fixed onto the price of the ticket. However, for those coming from as far away as Mid Sussex, Eastbourne and Worthing, this is probably going to bump the price up a fair bit. The club though have promised to offer a separate optional travel voucher at a heavily discounted rate which while encouraging, does make you wonder why they haven’t managed it over the last 10 years at Withdean, despite claims that it was a forced restriction of planning permission at both sites.
On the whole though, we’re pretty chuffed with this. We’re looking forward to our presentation, and we’re certainly hoping to take the opportunity to watch football at the newest stadium in the country next year. I doubt we’re the only ones either!
Worth the wait? It certainly looks that way!
