Tano Talks
While Gus Poyet is rightly ascending very quickly to legend status on the south coast, it’s important to remember the contribution of his backroom staff, and in particular the We Are Brighton teams favourite Mauricio Taricco.
Look past his long flowing hair, his white trainers and the fact that the only thing he seems to contribute on a matchday from the dugout are sitting there looking cold and occasionally jumping up to berate the officials or calm down Gustavo, and there is a man who has undoubtedly played a vital part in turning the defence from the shower it was last season into a lean, mean, non-conceding machine.
Anyway, the excellent Whatever Happened To… football blog has come up trumps with their latest interview as, yes, you’ve guessed it, it’s Tano. He talks about his career, the Albion and his hopes for the future and comes across as every bit the geezer you would hope that he is, including the somewhat brilliant line:
“ I’ve been called a cheat 1000 times because of diving or going in hard on a player, but don’t cheat on my wife, I know what I am.”
