Thought the visit of Derby County to the Amex had escaped the clutches of Sky Sports? Think again, with the game being moved to Friday 10th March.
This was always on the cards given the remarkable revival the Rams have gone on since reappointing Schteve McClaren which has taken them from possible relegation candidates to sixth spot.
But we thought we may have escaped it when the televised fixtures for March were released which included the visit to The Leeds United a week later but not Derby’s trip south.
Well, that clearly meant bugger all with games being picked willy nilly currently. And with the visits of several other possible promotion candidates still to come, it is conceivable that the visit of Burton Albion in just over a weeks time could be our last Saturday 3pm home game of the season.
Derby’s visit was of course televised last season. A dramatic penultimate last game of the regular season saw Lewis Dunk sent off before James Wilson scored a 95th minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw. That meant having to go to Middlesbrough five days later and win to be promoted and we all know how that went.
Hopefully Derby’s visit this time around doesn’t prove to be as damaging to the Premier League dream.
