Brighton and Hove Albion - Falmer Stadium

Amex from the Downs

25th March 2011

It's fair to say that at We Are Brighton, we are not the most fitness or exercise conscious people in the world as is indicated by the sheer amount of beer and unhealthy food we get through at away games. However, we put aside our phobia of physical activity for a very worthy cause that was cycling from the top of Ditchling Beacon down the South Dows Way to Stanmer Park. The reason? Despite the clubs claims in the planning process, the Amex looks absolutely fantastic from the top of the Downs. On a clear day it's a shining beacon for development. And here are the views we encountered on our descent
The stadium visible through the mist from the top of Ditchling Beacon Appearing in the middle of the horizon from Ditchling Beacon
Heading along South Downs Way towards Lewes The glare off the roof of the West Stand
Moving down through a field towards Stanmer Park The whole thing comes into view
The bottom of the first field after Ditchling Beacon The West Stand looks rather big from here

Viewed from the brow of a hill halway down the South Downs Way The stadium and Sussex University complex from the top of Stanmer Park
The roof of the Amex seen from where Stanmer Park meets Sussex Uni Heading down towards the A27
