Brighton and Hove Albion 2008-09 Season - The Great
Escape
After
a seventh place finish under Dean Wilkins the previous
season, Micky Adams' return as Brighton and Hove Albion
manager was meant to herald a promotion push and the return
to the glory days.
What
we instead got was Colin Hawkins, some defending so inept
you could do nothing but laugh about it, two fantastic own
goals, a 4-1 defeat at home to Scunthorpe and losing 1-0 at
home to nine man Walsall.
Relegation to League Two looked nailed on before the
arrival of a certain Russell Slade and a remarkable
upturn in results that saw the Albion pick up 16 points
from the last available 21 thanks to the inspired front
pairing of Lloyd Owusu and Gary Hart to survive to fight
another day in League One.
