Liam Bridcutt voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for November 2012

Well, we cocked this one up didn’t we? Liam Bridcutt was not even named on our original shortlist of seven players for the WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for November poll yet he has ended up winning the award with over 50% of the vote!

There was outcry at the midfielders non-inclusion but we quickly added him to the poll and the result was emphatic victory. Last seasons Player of the Year went about his business in typically understated style, missing just one match in the shape of the last gasp victory over Peterborough for which he was suspended after picking up a fifth booking of the season in the previous game against The Leeds United. His value to the side was shown with his instant recall to the starting line-up against Wolves, highlighting the fact that he is the player that really makes the Albion tick.

Will Buckley was back to somewhere near his best in November, scoring both goals in a match-winning performance at Huddersfield and also netting an excellent strike at Wolves to claim second place in the poll. This lead to Gus Poyet claiming he was better than Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and thus worthy of a place in the England squad. Mischief making on the part of Poyet perhaps, but his worth to the Albion isn’t in doubt.

Bruno took third place after another excellent month in which he finally netted his first goal for the Albion. It was worth the four month wait though, a stunning volley from a full 25 yards in the draw with Bolton Wanderers. We also discovered a little about his versatility as he found himself playing in central midfield against ten-man Wolves as the Albion chased the game, not looking out of place at all while playing a number of visionary passes.
