Brighton FPL Gameweek 4: Sanchez the best budget keeper in the game?

Brighton continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season in Gameweek 3, where a 2-0 victory at West Ham earned further FPL points for Robert Sanchez and his back five.

The Albion defence look well set to keep picking up points with the perfect combination of form and fixtures over the coming weeks. Seagulls assets should therefore be priority transfers for FPL managers.

Brighton are top of the Fantasy Football Scout fixture ticker between Gameweek 4 and 8. In that time they have matches against two of the newly promoted sides as well as The Leeds United, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

Last season five of the six fixtures between Brighton and Leeds, Leicester and Palace ended in draws. Brighton won the sixth game at home to Leicester 2-1.

Goalkeeper Sanchez (£4.5 million) has returned FPL points in every game of the season so far. Even in Gameweek 1 when Brighton didn’t keep a clean sheet in beating Manchester United 2-1, the Spaniard registered four points via five saves and picking up a bonus point.

Sanchez is currently the fourth highest scoring goalkeeper in the game, registering more points than the expensive premium goalkeepers such as Ederson (£5.5 million), Alisson (£5.5 million) and Hugo Lloris (£5.5 million).

Alongside Sanchez, there are several other good FPL options from across the Brighton squad. Danny Welbeck (£6.5 million) has returned in two of the opening three matches of the Premier League season. His 14 points so far means he is tied seventh for the highest scoring forwards in the game.

Welbeck has an excellent record against both Leeds and Leicester. Last season he returned in both matches against Leicester, earning 16 points from two goals and five bonus points.

Likewise, he has returned 19 points over his last two fixtures with Gameweek 4 opponents Leeds. Returning two goals, one assist and four bonus points in those two matches. His previous and current form makes Welbeck a great pick in FPL over the next few Gameweeks.

In addition, Pascal Gross (£5.7 million) continues to catch the attention of FPL managers. Gross has now returned in two of the opening three matches of the season and is the third highest scoring midfielder in the game.

That has seen the German’s FPL popularity explode since the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Gross has over 73,000 new managers so far since the Gameweek 3 deadline. He is the sixth most popular midfield signing for FPL managers currently.

Captain Fantastic
There are several captaincy options ahead of Gameweek 4. Many of the key premium assets have good fixtures on the Fixture Ticker.

Meanwhile there are a few great differential options, including Welbeck. His ownership by 1.5% of managers is another reason to consider transferring in Dat Guy if you do not already have him.

Mo Salah (£13.0 million) will continue to be highly captained in Gameweek 4. Salah faces newly promoted Bournemouth, who have conceded seven goals in their last two matches.

Salah has never blanked against Bournemouth in the Premier League. His six returns in six matches against the Cherries sees him average 11.17 points per match against them.

Gabriel Jesus (£8.1 million) could also be a good captaincy choice. The last Premier League match he played against Fulham during the 2020-21 season he returned seven points from a goal and a bonus point.
