Brighton FPL Gameweek 22: Hit the wings against leaky Cherries

Gameweek 22 is another double for FPL managers to navigate and whilst many will flock towards players with two games, Brighton attacking assets – in particular Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma – look wise investments facing a leaky Bournemouth defence.

Manchester United and Leeds United are the clubs with double duty. Of the other 18 teams who face one fixture, the Albion have the nicest fixture according to the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker.

March (£5.2 million), Mitoma (£5.1 million) and Evan Ferguson (£4.6 million) have all been growing in popularity since the the turn of the year, with Brighton scoring goals for fun and Roberto De Zerbi nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award.

Ferguson though looks set for several weeks on the sidelines after suffering a bruised bone against Liverpool in the FA Cup as a result of that terrible tackle from Fabinho. The focus for FPL managers in terms of Brighton forwards therefore falls on March and Mitoma.

March has scored four Premier League goals since the restart following the winter break, one more than both Ferguson and Mitoma who are on three. Just Erling Haaland (£12.2 million) and Marcus Rashford (£7.2 million) have bagged more.

Furthermore, March’s six attacking returns are bettered only by Haaland and Riyad Mahrez (£7.7 million). March has also been a fruitful collector of bonus points; only Kieran Trippier (£6.1 million) has more since the World Cup.

Over the same period, Mitoma has received the most passes of any Brighton player in the final third with 96. His 37 penalty area touches are also team-leading, only improved across the game by Gabriel Martinelli (£6.7 million), Haaland and Mohamed Salah (£12.8 million).

Mitoma has won the past two WAB Player of the Month awards for November and December. His form has been such throughout January that it would not be a surprise if he were to make it three in a row.

Many FPL managers will likely overlook purchasing a Brighton asset for gameweek 22 when in reality, March and Mitoma should both be under serious consideration.

Bournemouth have conceded 42 times already this season and with DeZerbiBall designed to extract the maximum out of wide players, Brighton should expect to have a lot of joy from the flanks against the Cherries.

Captain Fantastic
Manchester United partaking in the double gameweek means their players are an obvious go-to for captaincy. Rashford has returned five goals, one assist and six bonus points since Gameweek 17, averaging 8.2 points per match.

Both of United’s Gameweek 22 outings are at Old Trafford. Rashford has thrived at the Theatre of Dreams this season with seven of his nine Premier League goals coming at home.

Teammate Bruno Fernandes (£9.9 million) is also a strong option, having outscored Rashford in double gameweek 20. Fernandes has an attacking return from each of his last five Premier League matches.
