Brighton FPL Gameweek 36: Albion’s highest scoring player asset is…
Gameweek 36 is the biggest left in Fantasy Premier League this season, with 12 teams playing twice. Brighton might only have one fixture against Manchester United, but it comes at a time when the Albion are in excellent form, helped largely by their highest scoring FPL player of the campaign.
That man is Leandro Trossard (£5.8 million). Before we get onto him, let us take a look at this recent purple patch for the Seagulls.
Three wins and one draw from their past five league matches is a fine return. The Albion’s only defeat in that time came away at Manchester City, and even the reigning champions needed a little help from a couple of deflections.
Brighton have registered 78 goal attempts over the past six gameweeks. Only six teams have managed more and four of those are either fighting for the title or European football.
In this period, the Albion have averaged a chance every 7.3 minutes. They are also joint-fourth with Liverpool for successful crosses into the box, with 26.
All of which brings us nicely onto that Brighton highest scoring FPL player, Monsieur Trossard. This impressive run has come about since Graham Potter began using Trossard in a wider role of the sort he fulfils for Belgium.
That explains why the Albion are suddenly delivering dangerous balls into the box. Amongst midfielders under £6 million, his three goals from the past six gameweeks has him tied top.
Only one other FPL player beats his four attacking returns and nobody in the game betters his 37 points.
Trossard is also top across the Brighton team for touches in the final third (158), passes received in the final third (99) and expected assists (xA).
His achievements are not going unnoticed. Trossard is one of the leading contenders for our WAB April 2022 Brighton Player of the Month award.
He has also been nominated for Premier League Player of the Month for April, although he faces stiff competition for that particular accolade.
Remarkably, Trossard is still only owned by just 1.5 percent of managers. Those who do have him have benefited to the tune of 121 points, making him a great differential pick.
Brighon may not have the added appeal of two matches in double gameweek 36, but Trossard’s underlying numbers still make him a good pick – especially with fixtures away at Leeds United and home to West Ham to come.
Captain Fantastic
Most FPL managers will look to teams with two outings when assigning the captain’s armband. Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9 million) is joint second for attacking returns by midfielders in the last six Gameweeks.
He averages six points per match against Newcastle United and, in his last visit to Wolves, returned 13 points.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£13.3 million) will also be a popular captaincy pick. He has returned in every league appearance played against Spurs at Anfield, averaging 8.50 points per match.
Salah has also returned in four of the five Premier League matches he has played against Aston Villa in the league. This includes 13 points in his last visit to Villa Park.
