Vote for your November 2021 WAB Brighton Player of the Month
Tariq Lamptey winning our WAB Brighton Player of the Month for November 2021 seems a more foregone conclusion than a North Korean election, but for the sake of process we still need you to cast your votes.
Lamptey was the shining light of what was otherwise a pretty disappointing three games for the Albion. Newcastle arrived at the Amex bottom of the table and Brighton could not beat them.
Aston Villa were floating just above the bottom three and on a five game losing run when Brighton went to Villa Park and lost 2-0.
And 1996 Coca Cola Cup runners up The Leeds United departed Sussex with a point despite an horrific injury list and starting the day in 17th spot.
If the Albion had a clinical centre forward to make the most of the countless opportunities created by Lamptey, then it might well have been a different story.
Instead, Brighton failed to score from open play at all in November 2021 with Leandro Trossard the only player to find the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 1-1 draw with the Toon Army.
Needless to say, that means Trossard joins Lamptey on the shortlist. Marc Cucurella has also been decent enough but other than that, it is slim pickings for a month which ended with a smattering of Albion fans booing the team off following the stalemate with The Leeds United.
So yeah, tick that box for Lamptey. And do it knowing that, unlike in North Korea, you will not disappear if you do not. The WAB Player of the Month is always a free vote. On this occasion, it is also an obvious one.
Yves Bissouma
Returned from injury and although he was soon back into his stride winning back possession and trying to get the Albion on the front foot, he failed to hit the heights of last season or the first two months of 2021-22. Still, he did enough to make it onto the shortlist.
Marc Cucurella
He topped the WAB October 2021 Power Rankings and only a concerted voting effort from Zambia prevented him completing the double by also winning the Player of the Month poll. Continued that form into November, creating several untaken chances at Villa and doing an excellent job both attacking against The Leeds United and keeping Raphinha quiet.
Lewis Dunk
Kept a clean sheet as a defender when The Leeds United came to the Amex. Kept a clean sheet as a goalkeeper (for five minutes) when Newcastle came to the Amex. An interesting month for the Albion captain but one in which he was one of the more consistent performers.
Tariq Lamptey
Man of the match against Newcastle. Man of the match against Villa. Man of the match against The Leeds United. England might be blessed with a list of international class right backs longer than War & Peace, but he must surely be knocking on the door of a place in the Three Lions squad.
Jason Steele
Most Brighton fans headed to Villa Park with a mixture of trepidation and intrigue about the prospect of Jason Steele’s Premier League debut at the age of 31. Would he resemble a bloke who had won a cornflake competition to be a top flight goalkeeper for the day? Or would he be the goalkeeper we saw save four penalties in a single shoot out at Newport County? The answer was a competent display including three top class saves, without which the Albion could have been on the end of a hammering.
Leandro Trossard
The only Albion player to score in November and that came from the penalty spot. Might have had another had the post not denied him in the The Leeds United game. Caused plenty of headaches for opposition defenders and is his talent as the best attacker in this Brighton squad is now being recognised with rumours linking him with a £30 million move to Barcelona.
Poll closes at 8pm on Sunday 5th December
