Vote for your November 2023 WAB Brighton Player of the Month

November 2023 saw Brighton player after Brighton player ruled out with injury as the reality of the extra workload brought on by European football began to bite.

And yet despite having 12 individuals ruled out at the same time during the height of the injury crisis, the Albion managed to navigate the month unbeaten.

There were three victories and two draws to behold. Two of those wins came away from home in the Europa League, Brighton securing famous success at Ajax and AEK Athens to guarantee their place in the knockout round of the competition.

In the Premier League, a 3-2 win away against Nottingham Forest ended a run of seven domestic games without victory. Three points at the City Ground were banked despite Lewis Dunk picking up a straight red card with 15 minutes to play for calling referee Anthony Taylor a bellend.

Those two November draws could be seen as either points gained or points dropped depending on your viewpoint. The Albion again found themselves finishing a game shorthanded against Sheffield United after Mahmoud Dahoud was sent off; in the circumstances, a decent point perhaps?

The trip to in-form Everton also ended 1-1, Kaoru Mitoma forcing a late Ashley Young own goal to snatch a share of the spoils for the Albion.

One very pleasing aspect of November 2023 has been the way different individuals have stepped up in the face of so many absentees – this must be the first Brighton Player of the Month shortlist in about five years not featuring any of Dunk, Mitoma or Pascal Gross.

It guarantees us a first-time winner once all the votes have been counted. Over to you to pick who that is…

The candidates for WeAreBrighton.com November 2023 Brighton Player of the Month

Simon Adingra
His first full month as a first team regular having replaced the injured Solly March and it went rather well. Set up Ansu Fati for the opening goal against Ajax before adding the second himself. He then followed that up with a brilliant individual effort at home to Sheffield United.

Ansu Fati
How many more times is the word injury going to crop up here? Ansu Fati is now out for up to three months having limped off against Forest, coming at a particularly cruel time as he was looking really dangerous. Scored the first in Amsterdam as already mentioned and then repaid the favour to Adingra by setting the Ivorian winger up for the second.

Igor Julio
Igor! Igor! Igor! It has taken the £15 million capture from Fiorentina a little time to adapt to DeZerbiBall but now he is flying. Some colossal performances in the Albion defence whilst his penchant for charging out of the back line with the ball at his feet is as exciting to watch as it is terrifying.

Joao Pedro
No way Pedro! Mr Europa League scored his fifth European goal with another cool-as-you-like penalty to earn Brighton three points in Athens. Five days earlier and he came off the bench to bag a brace at Forest. The first came from a powerful header and the second came from the spot.

Jan Paul van Hecke
The way he led a makeshift Albion defence through the closing stages against Forest after Dunk had been sent off screamed of a man who will captain Brighton one day. Equally impressive in Amsterdam, it felt like this was a month when Van Hecke took his game to another level.

Bart Verbruggen
Brighton clean sheets so far this season have been rarer than a reasonably priced bag of Starburst at the Amex. Verbruggen managed to contribute two Europa League shutouts in November, the second of which was particularly well earned via a series of important saves against AEK. He also made a vital stop in the final minutes to preserve victory at Forest.
