So, you’re a Brighton fan planning a visit?
As you will be aware all football is being played behind closed doors. This is disappointing for players, staff and fans alike. It has been a hard year and we just have to look to the future and hope things improve sooner rather than later.
Although the atmosphere is missing there is no reason to stop supporting Brighton or to avoid the city. There are still many things you can do here. Football fans are always welcome here on the coast.
Assuming you are coming with a partner or friends you will want to make the most of your weekend so what things are there to do in Brighton?
Visit the Amex Stadium and take a tour
Covid-19 may have stopped the games but it hasn’t stopped the tours. This is your chance to see behind the scenes and learn more about the history of Brighton and everything Albion.
You will get to visit various locations inside the Amex including the directors lounge, dressing rooms and the media conference suite.
Due to the pandemic and safety restrictions groups are smaller than usual so if you are visiting with a party check beforehand. You can see more here.
Visit The Albion Museum
While you are here at the stadium you should take the time to visit the Albion Museum. Designed by the supporter for the supporter. Showing the history of Brighton & Hove Albion including the highs and the lows, trophies and relegations.
Visit Brighton Pier
You will almost certainly have heard of Brighton’s famous pier. If you are visiting this lively city on the coast you should definitely include the pier in your plans.
As with everything at the moment there may be restrictions due to Covid so keep your smartphone handy to check any updates for here and other places in Brighton so you can enjoy the weekend as much as possible.
Building commenced in 1881 on the pier but it was far from plain sailing and after delays including a terrible storm that caused massive damage the pier finally opened in 1889.
The pier plays host to fairground rides and amusements, restaurants and a bar. Walk along the 1,722 foot length of the pier while eating fish and chips or a candy floss.
Drinking and eating
It would be a shame not to have fish and chips at least once during your stay. The English coast and chippies go hand in hand but Brighton has many restaurants. A stroll through the lanes will reveal all manner of places to eat and shop.
If you are here on a day when Brighton and Hove Albion are playing then look for a good sized pub with live sports. You’ll find some fine pubs in Brighton with good beers and a friendly atmosphere.
Even if you can’t be at the ground you can still be close to fellow Seagull fans and create your own match atmosphere. There are plenty of bookmakers in town but as you are in the pub it is easier to use an online casino if you are looking to bet on Brighton winning.
Nightlife
There are bars, pubs and clubs all over Brighton. It’s not nicknamed London by the sea for no reason. Sadly the karaoke remains closed due to the pandemic but there are still plenty of options just remember to practice safe social distancing.
Easy to forget after a few bevvies. If you don’t want to head straight into the bars then take a stroll down the seafront. If you go down the steps to the beachfront you will find other places to drink when you’re ready.
You could try one of the cabaret spots like proud cabaret where you can drink late at night and have a unique experience or perhaps you would prefer a more active night then you could take in one of the town’s casinos.
Casinos
Brighton has its share of casinos. Rendezvous bills itself as a Las Vegas style casino so may be worth a visit. Check the internet for options that suit you. Ideally close to your hotel and with convenient opening times.
You will want to check for any dress code – perhaps do this before you leave to go to Brighton. You don’t want yourself or any of your party turned away at the door. Check which games they operate and if there is a poker room if that is what you or your guests would like.
A night in a casino can be a great night out. Prepare for it by practising your favourite games online. Go to a casino online and set up an account. Look for one that has a sign up bonus or some other freebie.
Most casinos are offering incentives to join as they compete in this ever competitive market. Once signed up you can start playing. Use the free to play games first to try out strategies and feel how the games work. When you are happy use your sign up bonus and play for real cash.
By using the apps or online casinos you can practice before heading to a traditional land based casino.
The Next Day in Brighton
You will quite possibly wake up with a bit of a hangover after a long day and night in the city. Head to the Lanes where you are sure to find a cafe or restaurant for breakfast. There are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians here too.
Visit the Pavilion for photos and to clear the head and then head up to the North Laines and take in a bit more of Brighton before you have to leave.
Lastly before you go, if you have time, head to the beach for a walk and leg stretch and get some Brighton rock. If you didn’t visit the club shop the previous day head back and pick up some Brighton & Hove Albion swag. You can’t leave without a Brighton shirt or scarf.
