Rearranged date set for Brighton v Spurs
Brighton and Hove Albion’s rearranged game against Tottenham Hotspur will now take place on Tuesday 17th April 2018 and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
The original fixture had been due to be played on Friday 20th but due to Spurs’ continuing involvement in the FA Cup that weekend, it has been bought forward by three days.
The Albion lost the corresponding fixture 2-0 at Wembley back in December with Hugo Lloris completing The Times cryptic crossword in a record time such was his underemployment over the course of the 90 minutes.
Harry Kane may yet be injured for the clash at the Amex, but Spurs will no doubt field a full strength side as for their supporters, finishing above Arsenal is much more important than potentially lifting a major trophy.
There had been some speculation that with no Champions League fixtures that week, the Albion’s game away at champions-elect Manchester City would be squeezed in there but this no longer appears to be the case.
Should City progress beyond the quarter finals of the Champions League by winning their tie with Liverpool, the semi finals will take place in the week of April 23rd for the first leg and April 30th for the second.
That effectively means the City game will have to be played in the final week of the season, giving us a final three games of Manchester United at home, Manchester City away and Liverpool away. In other words, the top three in the space of eight days. Gulp.
Either way, it would be nice for some clarification as it isn’t like we have trains and hotels to book or anything…
