Alexis Mac Allister: Football is in his blood

He may have left you a bittersweet taste in your mouth after his missed penalty against Wolverhampton Wanderers (even if he scored afterwards), but there’s a lot to say about Alexis Mac Allister.

The Argentine was one of the best players in the Argentine league and has since developed into one the steadiest performers for this national team.

Take a look at his first steps in football and you might come to realize why he is one of the players that could make great winnings for those who visit this site Puntersport.com.

Carrying it in the blood
You may not know this, but Alexis Mac Allister is actually the son of former Boca Juniors and Argentina national team player Carlos Mac Allister, so you could say that he carries football in his veins.

Alexis actually started his career with Argentinos Juniors, the same club Diego Armando Maradona started playing for.

He debuted for Argentinos in October 2016, while the club was in the Second Division. A few months later, in March 2017, he scored his first goal, even though it wasn’t enough as his team ended up losing that game 2-1.

However, Argentinos would get promoted at the end of the season which meant Mac Allister would play in the Argentine top tier the following season.

At the time, rumours came up that he was being chased by Buenos Aires giants Boca Juniors, however his club was asking for over $8 million, which the buying club considered to be too high.

He would then sign for Brighton on the 21st of January 2019, with the English club agreeing to the fee requested by Argentinos, which would make him the second highest sale ever in the history of that club.

With Boca Juniors
Alexis would continue his career with Boca Juniors, who managed to secure his services on loan in June 2019. It would take him less than a month to get his first official goal, scoring in a friendly against Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara.

Just three weeks later, Mac Allister would score his first official goal for Boca Juniors, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 defeat against Brazilian side Athletico Paranaenese, in the round of 16 of the 2019 Copa Libertadores.

He would prove quite important again in the second leg of that tie, setting up Boca Juniors’ second goal to seal their win and move into the quarter finals.

In January 2020, Brighton managed to secure a working permit for Alexis Mac Allister, which sped up his move to the Premier League.

This caused a lot of controversy in Argentina and within the Buenos Aires club, as many felt he should’ve stayed longer, and executives resenting the involvement of his father in the dealings.

However, while remaining focused on his work with Brighton now, clearly would like a second chance at wearing the Boca Juniors shirt.

“I was proud to be able to play for Boca, I had a very good six months, maybe it was a little short, it went by quickly, but I enjoyed it to the fullest,” he said in an interview with ESPN.

“I hope that some time in the future I get to come back to the club, but you never know the ways of life. My departure was a bit strange.”
