Chris Hughton named Premier League Manager of the Month for February
Brighton and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton has won the Barclay’s Premier League manager of the month award for February.
There were only three league games played in a month in which the Albion remained unbeaten, defeating West Ham United 3-1 at the Amex, drawing 1-1 away at Stoke City and then hammering in-form Swansea City 4-1 at home.
Hughton was up against Watford’s Javi Garcia, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Spurs’ Mauricio Pochettino and Huddersfield’s David Wagner for the award.
All three sides won two and drew one of their league games but it was the manner of the Albion’s dismantling of opposition at home that led to Hughton taking the award.
It’s well deserved as well. The Albion boss needs to guide his side to just two more wins from the remaining nine games of this season to secure safety bar a freakishly high points tally being needed this season to survive.
Hughton is gathering quite the collection of awards for his mantelpiece from his time at the Amex, having previously been named Championship Manager of the Month in December 2016, April 2016 and August 2015. He was also named the Championship’s Manager of the Season in 2016 and 2017.
The award comes in a month in which Hughton has bought back his James Bond Villain Goatee Beard, which we suspect was not a coincidence.
