Dwamena deal off as £10m striker fails medical
For the second time this summer, Brighton and Hove Albion have seen a transfer fall through thanks to the player failing a medical.
Raphael Dwamena is the latest signing who will actually not be signing after it was revealed he has some sort of heart condition.
The Albion had agreed a £10m fee for the Ghanaian international with FC Zurich earlier in the week subject to him passing a medical and gaining international clearance but he couldn’t clear the first hurdle, much to the surprise of FC Zurich who have said that they were aware of a small deviation but that it posed no risk.
Even Stevie Wonder can see that we desperately need a forward if we are to have any chance of staying up. Dwamena’s non-transfer now gives us only six days to bring in at least one striker – or two strikers if the club still desire to offload Tomer Hemed, as was apparently the case had the Dwamena deal gone through.
The Albion were set to sign Brazilian midfielder Renato Neto from Gent earlier in the summer until his medical bought up long standing knee trouble. That has since been operated on.
Brighton’s Head of Recruitment Frank Spencer could not be reached for comment.
