Fixtures confirmed to leave Brighton with horror run-in

At long bloody last the final fixtures of the Premier League season have been confirmed and it isn’t particularly good news for Brighton and Hove Albion with our last three games of the season now reading Manchester United at home, Manchester City away and Liverpool away.

The visit to the Amex of Jose Mourinho’s United has been pushed back a day from Saturday 5th May to Friday 4th May with an 8pm kick off, meaning it will be shown live on Sky. With the Spurs home game already moved due to their FA Cup commitments, it means this weekends game with Huddersfield Town is our final Saturday 3pm match of the season.

The Albion have given United two real scares in both our league and FA Cup meetings at Old Trafford already this season and with a buoyant home crowd roaring Brighton on helped of course by a Spring Friday’s afternoon drinking in town beforehand, there could actually be a reasonable chance of an upset. Expect us to lose 5-0 now we’ve said that.

Five days later and we will face the blue half of Manchester. Our first ever trip to the Ethiad Stadium had been due to take place on March 17th but was postponed due to the Albion’s FA Cup adventure. City, lest we forget, had already been knocked out by Christian Walton and Wigan Athletic meaning that Pep Guardiola and his expensively assembled side were forced into a week off because of little old Brighton/

The game against the champions elect will now take place on Wednesday 9th May at 8pm. Sky are yet to select a game to show that evening which means it could yet be televised although if it is, no change will take place to the time or date.

With City currently on 84 points, the penultimate game of the season could theoretically become the one in which they become the first top flight side to pass 100 points since Sky invented football in 1992.

We may get absolutely battered at the Ethiad, but the chance to witness history along with a night out in one of the best cities in the country will make it a must-do game for a lot of Albion fans.

The season finishes with a trip to Anfield on Sunday 13th May with the time and date of that one unchanged. Best get those six points we need on the board in the next two games, Albion.
