There were some initial predictions that after the £50 million sale of Ben White, having enjoyed an inspirational previous campaign, this would be another season of struggles for Brighton amongst the English elites.

In the end, Brighton relented and paid the full £15.4 million valuation of his former club, who wouldn’t entertain offers below his contracted release clause.

The 23-year-old Spaniard came with plenty of hype, although he is already living up to expectations and looks an absolute bargain.
