Jurgen Locadia wants January move to Spain or Germany
Jurgen Locadia has told a Dutch newspaper that he wants to leave Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.
Speaking in an interview with De Telegraaf, the Albion’s second ever biggest signing says that he wants to move to Spain or Germany and is “angry“ about his lack of game time.
Since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven, Locadia has started just four Premier League games, two in the FA Cup and one in the Carabao Cup.
He netted on his debut against Coventry City but also missed a hatful of chances. A further tap in on his first league appearance as a substitute against Swansea City made it two in two but that’s been as good as it gets for the striker.
Since then, Locadia has failed to hit score a goal including in a brutal experience in pre season away at AFC Wimbledon in which he missed three routine chances against a side who are currently in the League One relegation zone. The phrase “cow’s arse with a banjo” has never been more apt than for that performances at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
Speaking about his reasons for wanting to leave the Albion, Locadia told De Telegraaf, “I never had the chance to show what I am worth. I think winter is a good time to think if Brighton is still good for me.”
“I haven’t had a real clear explanation why I don’t play,” Locadia adds, seemingly unaware that it is because Glenn Murray is quite good and he is quite shit.
“This is what makes me angry. I was fit in February, scored goals and also played a good match against Manchester United in the FA Cup. After that I hardly played. In the summer I put in a good preseason, but in vain, ” seemingly forgetting that afternoon against the Dons.
“Soon there will be a conversation. I respect Brighton, but I hope they respect me in this situation. I’m only human. I want to go for the highest level. I hope for a club in Spain, Germany, something like that.”
With so much of the Albion’s success under Chris Hughton having been based on brilliant team spirit and a real togetherness among the squad, it seems likely that Locadia going public with his desire to leave and his frustration at not playing won’t sit well with the club.
There had been questions about his attitude due to his lack of work rate on the pitch and this outburst seems to back them up.
As for Locadia’s hopes of a move to Spain or Germany, good luck to any side that wants to take a chance on him. If there is anyone out there willing to sign a bloke who fell over his own leg when in a brilliant shooting position away at Southampton, then they won’t be paying anywhere near the £14m the Albion forked out.
Should Locadia depart, the club can expect to make a significant loss, which again goes to highlight the dangers of signing players from a pretty weak Eredivisie.
Danny Holla, Elvis Manu and now Locadia have all proven to be abject failures. With the jury very much still out on Alireza Jahanbakhsh, we’d advise Paul Winstanley and his recruitment team to avoid the land of clogs and windmills in the future.
Well, I for one would be happy to drive him to the airport! The sooner we can say ‘good riddance’ the better. This guy has been an abject failure from the moment he pulled on a Brighton shirt. His signing (along with a couple of other ‘duds’) really puts a big cloud over the Albion recruitment team.
