Brighton and Hove Albion football club, located on the south-coast of the UK, was established as an English football club in 1901 and elected into the Football League in 1920.
The late 1990’s saw the club in financial difficulties off the pitch, and failing similarly on the pitch. In 1997, the club faced relegation from the football league and the club faced liquidation. A successful boardroom takeover saved the club from a severe financial crisis.
The early 2000’s saw a successful financial restructuring and in 2002 the club returned to the second tier of English football.
In 2011, Brighton football club moved to a newly constructed football stadium in the north-east of the city.
Following the 2016/17 season the club were promoted back into the Premiership League, the top tier of the English football league.

During negotiations to construct a new football stadium, Amex were the preferred sponsorship partner and Amex has maintained ownership of the naming rights to the stadium.
The successful partnership between Amex and Brighton football club continues to this day, with Amex signing an extended 12-year, £100 million sponsorship deal in 2019.

The Amex Stadium
The new Amex football stadium was opened in May 2011 at a cost of £93 million. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 32,500 and provides a dynamic, contemporary sporting arena.
The new stadium was chosen to host European and International football fixtures as well as Rugby Union world cup matches, international tennis tournaments amongst a number of high-profile sporting, social, conferencing and banqueting events.
Located 9 kilometers from the city center, the Amex stadium is easy to access. A dedicated train station at Falmer sits adjacent to the stadium and it is located close to all key road links serving Brighton, London, Gatwick Airport and the south of the UK.
