Would Robert Snodgrass be the perfect player for Brighton?
Newly promoted side Brighton and Hove Albion will be making their Premier League debut on August 12th and local supporters can’t wait.
The club secured automatic promotion from the Championship after finishing second behind Newcastle United on 93 points. Manager Chris Hughton is looking to bolster his attacking options and believes West Ham United’s Robert Snodgrass may be the perfect choice.

The team has the daunting task of hosting big-spending Manchester City in their opening match of the season. They’ve finally made it to the top-tier of English football, and they won’t get a harder test than this to see exactly what is be required at this elite level. The Brighton odds of 9/1 to win shows how dominant bookmakers are expecting City to be this year. The blue half of Manchester have continued to build their squad in the off-season and are going to be a formidable force in the in the coming season.
Since learning that West Ham are willing to let Snodgrass go, both Brighton and Sunderland have shown interest in signing the Scotland international. It would seem that Brighton are the frontrunners to sign the player, though, considering that they can match The Hammers’ asking price of £8 million and offer him Premier League football next season.
The 29-year old seems to have fallen out of favour at West Ham with manager Slaven Bilic since signing with them back in the January transfer window. In his time at the club, he spent more time on the substitutes’ bench than on the pitch, in what proved to be quite a turbulent time in his career. He failed to score and only managed nine starts, often coming under criticism for his performances.

However, earlier in the 2016/17 season, before signing with the Hammers, he was absolutely magnificent for Hull City Tigers. Great attacking runs through the middle of the park and picking out players with inch-perfect passes were a common sight. This was the type of football that caught the eye of West Ham and urged them to make a move for him in the first place.
If the talented forward could get back to the same brand of football he was playing before making the switch to London, he would be a massive boost for Brighton and their chances of staying in the Premier League. They will need the kind of creative play and attacking prowess that Snodgrass provides if they want to survive relegation.
The Scotland international could be a fantastic signing for the club, but Brighton will have to hope that West Ham are willing to take a loss. They acquired him for £10 million when they bought him from Hull City and the Seagulls will most likely not be able to match that price.
There seems to be no reason for him to stay in East London now, though. He’s at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing first-team football, and that is something he will definitely get at Brighton.
