Maty Ryan voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for December 2017
In November, Maty Ryan stormed home to his first ever WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month award with 67% of the vote. Impressive? Things got even better in December for the Brighton and Hove Albion number one.
Ryan stormed to a second consecutive Player of the Month crown, increasing his percentage of the vote to just shy of 75% as he blew the rest of the field away. It was more than deserved as he was clearly man of the match in the 0-0 draw at Newcastle United where two brilliant saves helped secure a vital point and a clean sheet. There were more points winning saves in the home draw with Burnley and the much-needed 1-0 victory over Watford and he also did his best to stop Chelsea and Spurs running up big victories, restricting them both to 2-0 wins at Stamford Bridge and Wembley respectively.
The Albion managed only one goal from open play in December and it came from the Pascal Gross, taking his tally to the season for four goals from midfield in the process. That came in the win over Watford and the German has continued to look a real bargain at just £3m as he was voted into second place behind Ryan.
Are people finally coming around to Davy Propper? Some sections of the Albion fanbase have taken time to warm to the Dutch midfielder but he had another good month in December which saw finish third in the pools, easily being the more impressive midfielder as partner Dale Stephens struggled to make an impact.
Maty Ryan – 73.12%
Pascal Gross – 12.25%
Davy Propper – 5.93%
Lewis Dunk – 3.16%
Dale Stephens – 3.16%
Shane Duffy – 2.37%
