Brighton FPL Gameweek 11: 190,000 reasons to bring in Trossard
How many weeks can we sit and say that Leandro Trossard is the Brighton player you need in FPL this season?
The answer is a lot. Especially when the Albion are scheduled to take on Brentford, opponents who Trossard (£6.8 million) enjoyed an excellent time against last season.
Brighton won both of their matches against the Bees in 2021-22, keeping two clean sheets on the way. Trossard scored in both meetings, totalling 17 FPL points despite being substituted at half time of the Boxing Day 8pm clash at the Amex.
The 11 points he bagged from Brighton’s September visit to the Brentford Community Stadium remains his fourth-biggest FPL career haul.
This explains why Trossard is the fourth-most bought name of the current week. Over 190,000 managers have transferred in The Vampire of Genk, meaning that 13.5 percent of the game are banking on him to continue the outrageous form that has made him a go-to FPL assett.
Trossard is Brighton’s highest-scoring FPL player of the season with 54 points. The Belgium international has recorded 19 goal attempts so far, more than anyone else at the Albion.
Meanwhile, Brentford’s defence has conceded 48 attempts on target during this campaign – only three teams have allowed more. This bodes well for Trossard’s attacking threat.
At the back, Brighton’s defence will hope to repeat these two clean sheets against the Bees from last season and the underlying stats for this campaign are promising.
An impressively low 13 big chances have been conceded, which just four teams have bettered. Manchester City are the only team to keep more clean sheets than Brighton.
Pervis Estupinan (£4.5 million) has supplied 11 crosses so far since his £15 million summer signing from Villarreal, more than all other Seagulls defender.
He is also ahead for big chances created. With new Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi favouring a more attacking game than Brighton played under Graham Potter, there is every reason to think that Estupinan will be encouraged to get forward even more
Adam Webster (£4.5 million) ranks best amongst Brighton defenders for goal attempts, with seven. He remains a real aerial threat from set pieces whilst his ability to step into midfield with the ball is another trait De Zerbi is likely looking to capitalise on.
Investing in either Estupinan or Webster has the potential to bring in both defensive and attacking returns as Brighton prepare to face the Bees followed by Nottingham Forest in midweek.
Captain Fantastic
Erling Haaland (£12.2 million) returned once again in Gameweek 10, meaning he has now returned in every match so far this season.
The forward faces a Liverpool team that has conceded six goals throughout their last two league matches. Ominously for Jurgen Klopp, Haaland will be fully rested having sat on the bench as City drew 0-0 away against Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane (£11.4 million) could be a good differential captain, after returning two double-digit hauls in his last three meetings with Gameweek 11 opponents Everton. He averages 7.36 points per league match against the Toffees.
