Brighton FPL Gameweek 37: Estupinan can excel in Albion double

Brighton head into their second consecutive double in gameweek 37 and with home matches against Southampton and Manchester City, many FPL managers will be looking to include Albion assets like Pervis Estupinan in their teams.

A maximum of three players can be owned from one club. Trebling up on Seagulls will likely be attactive, especially with the Saints already relegated and the prospect of City having already been crowned champions and resting individuals with one eye on their upcoming FA Cup and Champions League finals.

The question then is which three Brighton players are the best to own?

Pervis Estupinan (£4.9 million)
Estupinan comes into the double gameweek in fine form having picked up 17 FPL points when Brighton won 3-0 at Arsenal on Sunday. That huge score came via a goal, assist, clean sheet and all three bonus points.

The attacking left back has now returned in three of the Albion’s last four Premier League matches, registering 33 points at an average of 8.25 in the process.

Over the whole season, Estupinan has recorded eight attacking returns. Amongst defenders, only Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7 million) and Ivan Perisic (£5.3 million have more).

Despite these impressive numbers, Estupinan has gone under the radar somewhat. All the focus from outside Brighton has tended to be on the performances of the likes of Moises Caicedo, Kaoru Mitoma and Alexis Mac Allister.

Estupinan though has every chance of succeeding his predecessor at left back, Marc Cucurella, in being crowned Albion Player of the Season.

Finally, it is worth noting that eight of the 10 clean sheets Estupinan has kept have come at the Amex. This bodes well for the pair of home fixtures to come in double gameweek 37.

Alexis Mac Allister (£5.6 million)
In midfield, Mac Allister is Brighton’s penalty taker and therefore has an additional route to points over his teammates.

He has returned 132 FPL points this season, the third best total of any Brighton player beaten only by Pascal Gross (£5.4 million) and the injured Solly March (£5.2 million).

Mac Allister is team leader for both expected goals (xG) and expected goal involvement (xGI), meaning he is the most likely to score or play a part in assisting.

Having been rested to the bench for Thursday night’s 4-1 defeat at Newcastle United, Mac Allister is as close to a guaranteed starter for these next two matches as you will find.

The third pick
By owning Estupinan and Mac Allister, FPL managers are invested in both the attacking and defensive options of the Seagulls. They will then have a straight choice of which of these area to double up in.

For more love at the back, Jason Steele (£4.0 million) or Lewis Dunk (£4.8 million) look like the best assets.

Both have recorded three clean sheets in the last four, whilst Steele can collect extra points through saves and Dunk gives a set piece threat with his head.

On the other hand, investing more in attack could make Mitoma (£5.7 million) a great choice. The winger has averaged 5.6 points per start this season – higher than any other Brighton player. In addition, he has recorded 43 goal attempts and created 35 chances for his teammates.

Managers could even opt for a forward, although it’s difficult to know who will start between Deniz Undav (£5.0 million), Danny Welbeck (£6.5 million) Evan Ferguson (£4.6 million) and Julio Enciso (£4.6 million).

For managers looking at the trip to St James’ Park for some indication, Welbeck and Undav started with Ferguson and Enciso benched. That suggests the latter two will come in against the Saints.

Captain Fantastic
Players from double gameweek 37 teams will likely be the most popular picks for the armband. Anyone wanting a captain from City will be hard-pressed to look beyond Erling Haaland (£12.4 million).

The Norwegian forward has torn up the record books with 36 goals in the Premier League this season. His FPL average of 8.2 points per game beats every other player and he is owned by 83.3 percent of managers. He is the obvious pick on this occasion.

If Marcus Rashford (£7.2 million) is ruled out through injury, Bruno Fernandes (£9.5 million) will be the centre of Manchester United’s attack.

With two fixtures against Bournemouth and Chelsea, alongside 26 points from the last four Gameweeks, Fernandes could be a nice differential captain at just 9 percent current ownership.
