Brighton FPL Gameweek 7: Trossard leads Albion goal attempts

Brighton bounced back from their 2-1 defeat at Fulham to hammer Leicester City 5-2 in FPL Gameweek 6, enhancing the appeal of Seagulls’ attacking assets like Leandro Trossard, Pascal Gross and Alexis Mac Allister.

The trio are listed as midfielders in FPL at the same time as being Brighton’s best three players going forward in their flying start to the season.

Gross has taken most of the headlines and proven to be the most popular, but Mac Allister and Trossard offer their own FPL appeal.

Owning at least one Brighton midfielder is a no-brainer; and there is even an argument that managers should double up and draft in two.

Pascal Gross (£6.0 million)
Unsurprisingly, Gross is the most-owned Albion asset in FPL with 27 percent of managers having invested in Der Kaiser, recently crowned as WAB August 2022 Player of the Month.

His brace in the 2-1 win at Manchester United on the opening weekend sparked a surge of interest which has shown no sign of slowing as the campaign progresses.

In Gameweek 6, only Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier (£5.2 million) created more chances than the five of Gross. The German claimed an assist in the dismantling of Leicester.

Looking at the season as a whole, just two players have registered a greater points return than the 42 scored by Gross across the six games so far – Erling Haaland (£12.0 million) and Ivan Toney (£7.2 million).

Alexis Mac Allister (£5.6 million)
Mac Allister returned his third double-digit haul of the season in Gameweek 6. Two goals and three bonuses totalled 14 points.

His score could have been even higher had VAR not controversially chalked off that magnificent 25 yard volley because Enock Mwepu was a millimetre offside.

Mac Allister deserved a hat-trick for his showing against the Foxes. He could at least console himself by ranking third amongst all FPL players in the Bonus Points System (BPS) over Gameweek 6.

With penalty taking duties giving him another route to points, the 23-year-old is a great budget enabler for FPL managers.

Leandro Trossard (£6.5 million)
Just behind Mac Allister in the FPL Bonus Points System was Trossard, who has been a revelation when used at left wing back by Graham Potter.

Trossard struggled to make much headway as a false nine in the Fulham defeat. Switched back to the flank against Leicester though and he thrived, scoring one and assisting another.

The Vampire of Genk’s attacking stats give plenty of reason to consider investing in his talents. Trossard has had more goal attempts than any other Brighton player this season with eight. His 19 penalty area touches are also a team-leading total.

Captain Fantastic
The captaincy decision will likely prove challenging for many FPL managers this weekend. In form forwards Haaland and Harry Kane (£11.4 million) face each other as Manchester City take on Spurs.

Kane returned 13 points in the last league meeting between these two sides. Meanwhile, Haaland is the only player to have returned in every match so far this season.

Gabriel Jesus (£8.1 million) could be a good differential for the armband. Arsenal host Everton in Gameweek 7 and Jesus has a good record against the Toffees, averaging 6.44 points per match.

He returned in seven of his last nine Premier League matches against Everton whilst a City player.
