Inigo Calderon voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for September 2013

In an excellent month defence wise for Brighton and Hove Albion with zero goals going into the against column from tough away games at Reading and Queens Park Rangers, Inigo Calderon was the stand out defender as he takes our WeAreBrighton.com September Player of the Month poll.

So good were his performances at right back that he has ended up undroppable even with the return from injury of Bruno, who was shoehorned into the centre of midfield in what turned out to be a pretty disastrous experiment in the 2-0 defeat at Ipswich Town.

He even managed to pop up with his first goal of the season, chosing a very apt time to do it by giving the Albion the lead on “Spanish Day” against Bolton Wanderers after his compatriot David Lopez had managed to celebrate by scoring an own goal.

If you need any indication of how popular Rohan Ince is becoming, then the fact he managed to win second place in the poll despite starting only one game should give you a clue. That being said, he was excellent in the win over Bolton, deservedley taking the man-of-the-match award and undeservedley being dropped for Bruno for the trip to Ipswich a week later.

It’s another midfielder in third place with new signing Keith Andrews making the top three for the first time since his arrival on-loan from Bolton. He was absolutely outstanding in the defensive midfield role in the two draws with QPR and Reading and it was little to surprise to see him straight back in the side at Ipswich after being forced to sit out the game against his parent club.
