Liam Bridcutt voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for September 2011

In a month in which Brighton & Hove Albion took only five points from a possible fifteen and saw their Carling Cup adventure ended at the hands of Liverpool, it was defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt who took the WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month Award for September 2011.

Bridcutt was one of the unsung heroes of last season after establishing himself in the side a couple of months into the League One title winning campaign and he has continued that form in being one of the Albion players who looks most comfortable with the step up.

He has played every minute of September and it was shown just how much Brighton rely on his ability to win the ball back and dictate play when an early yellow card against Crystal Palace saw him unable to make the challenges he normally does and we subsequently fell apart in the second half, losing in the league at the Amex for the first ever time against our rivals.

Craig Mackail-Smith improved on his third place in our August Player of the Month vote by finishing second this time around. Despite criticism from some quarters following a poor start to the month including missing against Leicester from three yards, he bounced back to net three times in two games against The Leeds United and Crystal Palace.

Craig Noone was last months winner and he continued his good form to take third place. Despite the arrival of marquee signing Vicente from Valencia, Noone kept his spot in the side and was instrumental in the win at Bristol City and gave the Liverpool defence a torrid time on their visit to The Amex in the Carling Cup. He also once worked on Steven Gerrard’s roof, just in case you didn’t know.
