Maty Ryan voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for November 2017

Our most convincing WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month award victory of the 2017-18 season so far goes to Maty Ryan who takes his first crown after a string of superlative displays throughout November.

Ryan’s best moment of the month undoubtedly came with that unbelievable double save in the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, which ensured that the Albion didn’t face the ignominy of losing at home to our bitter rivals. The save was that good that it invoked memories of Michel Kuipers at Wolverhampton Wanderers back in 2002 – praise for an Albion goalkeeper doesn’t come much higher than that.

Manchester United couldn’t find a way past him at Old Trafford either, the Red Devils having to rely on Lewis Dunk’s second own goal of the season to give them an under served 1-0 victory at the Theatre of Dreams while he produced another excellent stop late on in the months only win away at Swansea City.

If you’d have said a month ago that Gaetan Bong would be our second best performer in the Premier League in November, you’d have been locked up in a mental asylum. Yet here we are with the Cameroon left back having just about held off the challenge of Shane Duffy to secure the runners up position having wrestled the left back spot off of Markus Suttner, becoming one of the Albion’s key men at the minute in the process.

Duffy meanwhile may have failed to qualify for the World Cup with the Republic of Ireland after a play off defeat to Denmark, but that didn’t lessen his form in the stripes with a particularly impressive showing in the defeat against Manchester United in which he marked Romelu Lukaku out of the game, making a mockery of his £70m price tag in the process.
