Want to feel old? It was 20 years ago last week that Peter Taylor II first took charge of Brighton, overseeing a 3-0 win against Oldham Athletic at Withdean Stadium.
Taylor lost only four league matches during his six months at the helm, leading the Albion to the Division Two title. The trophy had barely gathered any dust before he handed in his resignation just nine days after the 2001-02 season concluded, saying he had been misled about when the new stadium at Falmer would be ready.
The Taylor era may not have ended in particularly pleasant fashion, but that did not take any of the shine of the campaign. With Michel Kuipers at one end and Bobby Zamora at the other, the Albion were a formidable force who finished above clubs with much bigger budgets.
