Vincenzo Teresa / Gregg Wallace wins Brighton Look-a-like 2022-23

There are many things to be grateful for Roberto De Zerbi for. Mesmerising attacking football. Bringing Europa League to the Amex. His infectious personality and out-of-this-world charisma. Appointing to his Brighton coaching staff Vincenzo Teresa, who looks just like Gregg Wallace.

It is the last of those that we are here to talk about today, with Teresa marking the end of his first campaign with the Albion by winning the coveted WAB Look-a-Like of the Season award for his uncanny resemblance to the MasterChef judge.

Teresa has worked with De Zerbi at Palermo, Benevento, Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk. He holds a UEFA B Licence and his official job title is athletic coach, one of two specialists charged with helping condition the players alongside Marcattilio Marcattilii.

Unfortunately, Marcattilii does not look like anyone from a cookery-based reality television show, meaning the wait goes on for the Albion’s first Paul Hollywood or Pru Moore.

Little else is known about Vincenzo Teresa because unlike Gregg Walace, he happilyy sits unnoticed in the background.

Except when, every now and again, Teresa pops up in post-match celebrations. At which point, there is utter rejoice at WAB Towers for the opportunity to make a MasterChef reference.

Any mention of Teresa also enables us to wheel out our favourite set of Gregg Wallace quotes:

  • “Like a deadly assassin, the chilli comes creeping into your palate.”
  • “It’s not burnt – it’s just enthusiastically crisp.”
  • “There’s no place in MasterChef for pink food. There’s no place in the world for pink food. And either he really has made a green, pink and red dish or you and I have just had an acid tablet.”

Another newcomer finished runner up to Vincenzo Teresa / Gregg Wallace in Look-a-Like of the Season with Deniz Undav securing second spot.

When it was suggested that Undav and Viktor Krum from the fourth Harry Potter movie deserved a spot on the shortlist, we did wonder if it might be too niche.

Apparently not. There must be more fans of the Boy Who Lived amongst the Albion faithful than we realised.

Either that or Emma Watson voted multiple times for the Bulgarian international quidditch seeker who her character Hermione Granger went to the Yule Ball with.

In which case, Emma, please send us a DM so we can take you to the Harvester for a nice surf ‘n’ turf as a way of saying thank you for your support of this prestigious WAB Award.

The success of Teresa and Undav in sewing up the top two places means that Alexis Mac Allister has to settle for third after back-to-back wins in the category.

Mac Allister and Lionel Messi were voted Look-a-Like of the Season in 2022 and 2021. Their final shot at becoming the first three-time winners of the awarded ended in defeat, with Mac Allister having since signed for Liverpool in a switch which could be worth up to £55 million for the Albion.
