Vote for your March 2025 WAB Brighton Player of the Month

March 2025 saw Brighton go unbeaten through four matches with nominations for the Official Premier League Player of the Month, Manager of the Month and Goal of the Month awards.

Jan Paul van Hecke is up for the first of those. Fabian Hurzeler the second; the fourth time he has made the shortlist this season. And Pervis Estupinan the third for his stunning free kick away at Manchester City.

Congratulations to all. But obviously, the only accolade anyone connected with the Albion really wants to win is WAB March 2025 Brighton Player of the Month. And we have some strong candidates vying for the honour.

The Albion started March by eliminating Newcastle United from the FA Cup in dramatic, extra time fashion at St James’ Park. Danny Welbeck struck in the 114th minute to ensure Brighton beheading home from Saudi on Tyne with a place in the quarter finals via a 2-1 victory.

There was another late winner as the Albion ended an eight year wait for a win against Fulham. Joao Pedro scored from the penalty spot in injury time to secure a 2-1 win after Van Hecke headed home his first ever Brighton goal.

Estupinan bent in his Goal of the Month contender in a 2-2 draw at Manchester City, helping to earn Brighton their first ever point at the Etihad Stadium.

Lastly came a 0-0 draw against the surprise package of the season, Nottingham Forest. Not a terrible result against a side who inflicted one of the heaviest defeats in Brighton history on the Albion just eight weeks earlier.

But then you remember it was the FA Cup. And there was a penalty shootout. And Brighton blew it from 12 yards in a season primed for an unfashionable side to win the world’s greatest cup competition.

Still, let us not dwell on that. Get your votes in…

The candidates for WeAreBrighton.com March 2025 Brighton Player of the Month

Pervis Estupinan

Praise does not come any higher for a Brighton full back than taking a free kick and having it compared to Paul Watson. Estupinan’s stunning goal against the four-in-a-row Premier League champions was the highlight of his best month of the season so far.

Yankubu Minteh

Scored the all-important equaliser in the FA Cup win against Newcastle. He proved a constant threat to Fulham and helped at City with some diligent defending. A series of performances made all the more impressive given it was Ramadan.

Joao Pedro

No way Pedro! The Fulham curse finally ended thanks to Pedro winning a penalty in somewhat theatrical style and then scoring it. Eight minutes into injury time. The coolest of cats. He also deserves praise for the effort put in against Newcastle over 120 minutes which left him barely able to walk through the final 10.

Jan Paul van Hecke

There really was nobody better than Van Hecke in March, as shown by him joining a pretty select list of Brighton players to be nominated for Premier League Player of the Month. Most of the Albion’s success was based on being solid defensively thanks to Van Hecke and Adam Webster. The Dutchman chose a great time to score in Brighton colours for the first time with a coachload of friends and family having travelled over from the Netherlands to watch the Fulham game.

Adam Webster

Brighton went eight games unbeaten with Webster back from injury. No need to remind you what happened in the first match he missed against Aston Villa to kick off April. Losing him potentially for the rest of the season is a massive blow.

Danny Welbeck

Welbz is Dat Guy. Three substitute appearances out of four March matches but Welbeck was the FA Cup hero at St James’ Park. Meaning he deserves his place on the shortlist.
