Albion complete East Anglia conquest: Ipswich 0-2 Brighton photos

For the second time in five days, we brings you photos of an Albion victory in East Anglia – this time from Ipswich Town 0-2 Brighton.

And they might just be the best set of pictures from an away day this season. As lovely as modern stadiums like the Amex are, there is something special about an old-school ground and proper floodlights for an evening game.

Throw in Georginio Rutter being even more insane than normal and you have a magnificent collection from an excellent night in Suffolk.

It also helps of course that the Albion won. Hot on the heels of Saturday’s 4-0 FA Cup third success at Norwich City, Brighton returned to the east of England to face the Tractor Boys in Premier League action.

The Seagulls badly needed a victory after eight winless league matches. Portman Road, however, did not look like it would be the place to end that barren run as Ipswich had all the first half chances worth writing home about.

Three good Bart Verbruggen saves kept Brighton in it. Those paved the way for Kaoru Mitoma to open the scoring on the hour mark, completely against the run of play.

A low shot squirmed under the body of ex-Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton, who may have been feeling the effects of being knocked for six not long earlier by a Joao Pedro rugby tackle. If we are being honest, Pedro probably should have been sent off.

Brighton managed the game superbly after taking the lead and Rutter added a second with 11 minutes remaining. For supporters of most clubs, doubling their advantage so close to the end would be a case of game over.

But not the Albion. Collapses from 2-0 up against Leicester City and Wolves remain fresh in the memory. The Albion though got this one over the line, leaving a very happy away end to celebrate afterwards with Rutter leading the way.
