Amex rocks as City chopped: Brighton 2-1 Man City photos

Brighton delivered another one of those unforgettable nights under the lights at the Amex, coming from behind to beat Man City 2-1 – and here are the best fan photos.

The four-in-a-row Premier League champions looked to be on course for a routine victory during the opening 30 minutes.

Erling Haaland gave City the lead and only some excellent goalkeeping from Bart Verbruggen prevented it being more than one.

The numbers told their own story. Zero shots from the Albion through the first half hour and possession barely hovering above the 20 percent mark.

Into the second half, however, and it was a different story. Fabian Hurzeler got his substitutions spot on, outwitting Pep Guardiola in turning the game in favour of Brighton.

Carlos Baleba helped the Albion win the midfield battle following his half time introduction. Joao Pedro scored the equaliser within 20 minute minutes of coming on.

And four minutes after Pedro levelled, he set up fellow substitute Matt O’Riley for the winner. City were shocked whilst the noise inside the Amex reached deafening levels.

It was a lovely moment for O’Riley on only his second appearance for Brighton. His debut nearly three months ago was ended after just six minutes in terrible fashion when a Crawley Town player put in a challenge so rough that O’Riley required ankle surgery.

Guardiola took defeat for his sportswashers almost as well as he did when Brighton had the nerve to beat City 3-2 in May 2021, refusing to shake Glow Up Graham Potter’s hand afterwards.

Jan Paul van Hecke was the man in receipt of a furious tirade from Guardiola this time around. Funny how Bald Pep always has nice words to say when City have beaten Brighton… but not so much when it is the other way around.
