Brighton 1-3 Palace a day to forget… so here are some photos of it

Brighton 1-3 Crystal Palace was a day to forget for Albion fans… so naturally, we have put together a few photos of it for you to enjoy.

Few being the operative word. Hardly any Seagulls supporters answered our normal plea for pictures from this particular game. It was always as if everyone wants to blank it from their memories.

And who can blame those wanting to take the head in the sand approach? After all, it was a total shit show. The only photo in this little lot of any interest is probably the one where a VAR decision was described in-depth on the big screen, quite possibly for the first time.

It did not go the Albion’s way; much like the rest of the afternoon. The moment in question saw Dean Henderson clear a high ball away and then kick Yankbubu Minteh in the head.

No foul was the verdict, saving Henderson from a red card. Just as well from a Brighton point of view as it would have been even more embarrassing to lose to a Palace side playing with only 10 men after having their number one goalkeeper sent off.

Palace took the lead just before the half hour mark when Trevor Chalobah bundled home a corner. The Albion then continued their concerning habit of conceding two goals in quick succession with Ismaila Sarr doubling the advantage eight minutes later.

Julio Enciso came on at half time and Brighton were a bit better for the change in the second half. Lewis Dunk and Enciso both drew good saves from Henderson before Palace wrapped the game up entering the final 10 minutes.

Dunk messed up his attempt to clear, allowing Sarr to run clear and score his second and Palace’s third. Cue a mass exodus from all home sections of the Amex.

A role reversal from Brighton 4-1 Palace last time these sides met at the Amex when many Eagles fans abandoned ship before half time.

Those loyal/insane Albion fans (delete as appropriate) who stayed to the bitter end saw Marc Guehi take sympathy on Brighton by scoring an own goal.
