Cherries popped for four in a row: Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth photos

For the first time since Chris Hughton was manager and the Albion were a Championship club, we have photos to bring you from four Brighton wins a row after Bournemouth were beaten 2-1 at the Amex.

It represents quite the turnaround from how February kicked off. You know. With that 7-0 defeat away at Nottingham Forest.

Since then, the Albion’s record reads WWWW. And none of those matches have been easy. Two victories over Chelsea in FA Cup and Premier League were followed by Brighton avoiding slipping on a massive banana skin at rock bottom Southampton.

Then came the Cherries. Bournemouth are enjoying a magnificent season and arrived in Sussex fifth in the table. European football could be heading to the Vitality Stadium for the first time ever thanks to this fearless, exciting team managed by Andoni Iraola.

The Cherries’ devotion to attack made for an entertaining 90 minutes. One which Brighton certainly enjoyed compared to previous home experiences against park-the-bus opponents like Everton, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.

Joao Pedro gave the Albion a first half lead from the penalty spot. Bournemouth came on strong at the start of the second half and deservedly equalised through Justin Kluivert.

The Dutch forward hit a spectacular effort from 25 yards and out towards the right-hand side of the Brighton area. It rocketed into the top corner, giving Bart Verbruggen no chance.

Fabian Hurzeler turned to his bench in response. Within four minutes of coming on, Danny Welbeck struck what proved to be the winner.

Georginio Rutter played a delightful through ball, latched onto by Welbeck. Dat Guy did the rest, drilling a low shot across Kepa Arrizabalaga and in off the far post.

Victory saw the Albion end Tuesday night level on points with Bournemouth, just one off a Champions League place. Some turnaround from the shambles at the City Ground.
