Foxes hunt point off Albion: Leicester 2-2 Brighton photos

For the second time in six weeks, we have a set of photos showing Brighton blowing a 2-0 lead with five minutes remaining to draw 2-2 – this time from a catastrophic collapse at the King Power Stadium against Leicester City.

The Albion should have been three or four goals ahead with the game dead and buried going into half time. Good chances came the way of Joao Pedro, Kaoru Mitoma and Pervis Estupinan.

Of those, only Estupinan forced Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen into save. The normally reliable Pedro fired wide and Mitoma was too high from all of 10 yards out.

The only thing Brighton had to show for their efforts in the opening 45 minutes was a spectacular goal from Tariq Lamptey.

Collecting the ball on the right, Lamptey stepped inside and bent an effort with his left foot which flew into the opposite top corner of the Leicester net.

Was it a cross? Was it a shot? Who knows and who cares. Whatever it was, Lamptey has a genuine Goal of the Season contender to his name.

When substitute Yankubu Minteh doubled the lead with only 11 minutes left to play, that should have been it. Three points to Brighton, thank you very much.

Except it wasn’t. Jamie Vardy pulled one back on 86 and Bobby De Cordova-Reid levelled on 91. The Albion had done it again, another famous capitulation to go with the 2-2 home draw with Wolves in October.

The more level headed amongst the Brighton fan base pointed out the Albion had themselves come from behind to beat Spurs and Manchester City this season. Swings, roundabouts and all that.

This though was not a time for level headedness. And the meltdown which followed was as wonderful as you might expect. Sack Fabian Hurzeler, get a fan from the terraces in the changing room to give a team talk after a defeat, that sort of thing.

Never change, Seagull supporters.
