It’s everyone’s game – unless you boo: Photos from Brighton 0-0 Leeds
Booing in the stands and fireworks on the pitch. Thankfully, these photos from Brighton 0-0 The Leeds United concentrate firmly on the latter.
The fireworks display before kick off was to celebrate this year’s Rainbow Laces campaign. The Albion have a long and proud tradition of doing so, with the magnificent rainbow flag display prior to December 2019’s 0-0 draw with Wolves one of the standout moments from the club’s 10 years at the Amex so far.
Rainbow coloured fireworks were set off in front of the East Stand as the teams of Brighton and Leeds stepped onto the pitch and that is what 90 percent of our fan photos from the game concentrate on.
Not only did they look fantastic, but as one supporter commented when tweeting their images in: “The fireworks warmed up everyone in the East Upper… for all of about 30 seconds.”
For this was a freezing cold evening and one which ultimately ended in further frustration for the Albion, hence the booing at the full time whistle which has garnered so much attention.
Brighton were utterly dominant against Leeds for 80 minutes, registering 20 shots on goal. It was the same old story though as the club’s failure to sign a clinical centre forward came back to haunt them again as the Seagulls failed to put one of those opportunities in the back of the net.
Drawing 0-0 in a game you would have easily won with a new striker was bad enough. It nearly got even worse though as three superb saves late on from Robert Sanchez were required to ensure The Leeds United did not leave with all three points, leaving Brighton as victims of yet another smash-and-grab raid.
Imagine the reaction from the terraces if that had have been the case…
