QPR 0-1 Brighton photos from a mush in Shepherds Bush

QPR 0-1 Brighton saw Fabian Hurzeler take charge of the Albion on English soil for the first time and we have a bumper selection of photos capturing all the action from Loftus Road.

Or should that be lack of action? Whilst the sun shone on Shepherds Bush and most Seagulls supporters reported having a good day on the beers, the football left a lot to be desired.

But that really is what pre-season is for. Nobody goes to be entertained. QPR fans knew that, hence why less than 5,000 bothered to turn up.

Players are instead working themselves towards full fitness. And in the case of Brighton, getting used to a new head coach and a different way of doing things from how Roberto De Zerbi operated.

The Albion had been free-scoring through their two games in Japan, beating Kashima Antlers 5-1 and winning 4-2 against Tokyo Verdy.

Championship side QPR provided a much sterner test than either of those J-League opponents, as evidenced by the only goal of the game coming from via a penalty.

Yankubu Minteh continued his impressive friendly form by dispossessing a home defender, advancing into the area and getting shoved to ground. Danny Welbeck did the rest, sending QPR goalkeeper Paul Nardi the wrong way from the spot.

Although not the most inspiring of attacking displays, Brighton could be happy to have ensured QPR did not manage a single meaningful effort on goal all afternoon.

Jason Steele will not keep many easier clean sheets in his life. Which Hurzeler revealed afterwards was the aim of the afternoon. The Albion head coach said recoding a shutout showed Brighton are heading in the right direction with the Premier League campaign now only two weeks away.
