You’re only here for the Harvest Moon: Brighton 3-2 Wolves photos

It is not every day you see the Harvest Moon in all its glory over the Amex – and luckily for us, plenty of Albion fans took photos of it during Brighton 3-2 Wolves.

Superstition and folklore has long associated with the full moon with impacting behaviour. As well as creating quite the spectacle, maybe its presence can therefore also explain what happened to certain Albion players during the victory over the Old Gold?

Things went quite nicely for Brighton through the opening 40 minutes. Carlos Baleba opened the scoring with his first Albion goal and celebrated with a gymnastics set straight from the Kazenga LuaLua playbook.

Simon Adingra then doubled the advantage to continue his flying start to the campaign having also scored at Everton and in the previous round of the League Cup when the Seagulls beat Crawley Town 4-0 at the Amex.

But then something happened to Brighton. Goncalo Guedes pulled one back for Wolves just before the break, followed in the second half by several Seagulls completely losing the plot.

Igor Julio suddenly looked like he had never played football before in his life. Adam Webster became determined to try and help the visitors equalise, doing his best to bundle home what would have been a comical own goal had Jack Hinshelwood appeared from nowhere to produce an astonishing clearance off the line.

And then there was Jason Steele. The Albion goalkeeper managed what Webster failed at by gifting Wolves a second when cocking up a simple pass and giving it straight to a Gold shirt. Tommy Doyle punished the error. What else can explain all the madness other than the moon?

Luckily for Brighton, Doyle’s goal was only a second consolation. Seven minutes earlier and substitute Fedri Kadigolu had moved the Albion 3-1 ahead with his first touch after coming off the bench.

Brighton had done just about to progress to round four. Can the Albion go all the way to Wembley? Maybe if there are no more full moons in the sky when they take to the pitch again.
