Beram Kayal voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for March 2015

He’s only been at Brighton and Hove Albion for three months, but already Beram Kayal’s influence is such that he has almost single-handedly turned the clubs season around as the Seagulls ended the month 10 points clear of the Championship relegation zone.

Used primarily as a defensive midfielder, his screening role in front of the back four was pivotal in helping to keep clean sheets in the games at home to Derby County and away at Blackburn Rovers and Millwall which yielded seven points along the way. He even managed to look like the Albion’s best defensive and attacking midfielder in the game at Ewood Park, leaving many Albion fans intrigued as to what he could potentially offer in a more advanced position given his obvious talent.

It was a second runners up spot in as many months for David Stockdale as he added a silver medal for March to the second place he secured in our February Player of the Month award. He made a string of match winning saves against both Derby and Blackburn and he was also largely responsible for restricting Wolverhampton Wanderers to just the one goal at the Amex, even if there were question marks about whether he should’ve kept that one out as well.

February’s winner was Inigo Calderon and he had to settle for third spot in March as Chris Hughton continues to use him as a winger to good effect, offering protection to Bruno and also providing attacking intent himself, even if he didn’t manage to add to three goals he netted in the previous month.
