Brighton assets to invest in for FPL double gameweek 27 and 29

Brighton are proving to be a bit of an FPL headache at the moment as they have a double in gameweek 27 and 29 but no fixture in gameweek 29 having progressed to the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

The Albion did not play in gameweek 25 either as their trip to Newcastle United was postponed due to the League Cup final. Many FPL managers would have moved their Brighton assets to the bench whilst others will be looking at who to invest in ahead of those two double gameweeks.

Before we get to that though, the Seagulls have a nice fixture in gameweek 26 when hosting West Ham United at the Amex.

Solly March (£5.1 million) and Pervis Estupinan (£4.7 million) missing the midweek FA Cup win at Stoke City through injury will have been a concern as both have been heavily transferred in for their excellent form in February.

The Albion’s impressive run extends all the way back to the gameweek 17 restart. That should give FPL managers confidence in having more than one Brighton player in their squads with the double gameweeks to come.

March has registered the Seagulls’ most FPL point since the World Cup. His total of 61 is only beaten by four players throughout the game, all of whom have started more matches and played more minutes.

Again, only four individuals better his five goals in this period. Teammate Kaoru Mitoma (£5.3 million) is just one behind, netting four times. The Japan winger has been so good as to have been voted WAB Brighton Player of the Month in January, December and November.

When you compare Brighton assets, they all look like good picks. That is a testament to the improvement Roberto De Zerbi has brought since replacing Graham Potter.

Pascal Gross (£5.4 million) has supplied 50 crosses since Gameweek 17 – a team-leading total – and has also created 19 chances for his teammates, the same number as March. Of March’s goal attempts, nine are classified as big chances. Gross has five of them.

Meanwhile, full back Estupinan has created 10 attempts for his teammates. Two of those were big chances. He was also denied a perfectly good goal when the Seagulls drew 1-1 at Crystal Palace after VAR managed the quite spectacular cock up of drawing their offside lines from the wrong defender.

March, Mitoma and Estpupinan appear the obvious picks for the spell ahead. Gross slightly less so. Thinking further outside the box and Alexis Mac Allister (£5.4 million) should not be overlooked either.

With Adam Lallana ruled out for possibly the rest of the season, Mac Allister has been used as a number 10 over the past two matches rather than in the holding midfield role he has spent much of the campaign.

Since the change, Mac Allister has registered 11 goal attempts, eight shots inside the box and six on target. No Brighton player can better that.

Captain Fantastic
There are a couple of obvious captaincy candidates for gameweek 26. Erling Haaland (£12.2 million) has delivered 22 of his 32 attacking returns at home this season, where he has also picked up 17 bonus points and five double-digit hauls. Manchester City host Newcastle at the Etihad in the early Saturday kick off.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (£8.4 million) faces Bournemouth in gameweek 26, a side that conceded three goals in the reverse fixture and have shipped 28 times in total against the big six clubs from seven matches.
