Brighton FPL Gameweek 21: Managers on the March to get Solly

As the Premier League’s most free scoring and in-form team, FPL managers are flocking to own Brighton players right now, with one man proving particularly popular following his heroics against Liverpool – hello, Solly March.

March (£5.1 million) returned 19 points in Gameweek 20 as Brighton beat Liverpool, with his two goals, one assist, one clean sheet point and three bonuses combining to produce the fourth-highest individual FPL score this season.

This was the midfielder’s second successive double-digit haul, after returning 11 points in Gameweek 19 when Brighton faced Arsenal and then Everton.

As a result, March is the subject of over 170,000 transfers made so far this week. You could say FPL managers are on the March to get Solly into their team.

And other Brighton assets too, on account of the Seagulls plundering more goals than any other Premier League team over the past seven matches. The 20 scored by the Albion is three more than Arsenal, who are next best on 17.

Of those seven matches, five have been won and two lost. The two defeats both came at the Amex, giving Brighton a perfect record on the road since defeat to Manchester City at the end of October.

Albion fans and FPL managers alike can be confident then in the Seagulls’ chances of picking up more points on their travels away at Leicester City in Gameweek 21.

Alongside March, Kaoru Mitoma (£4.9 million) again impressed in the 3-0 win over Liverpool. Mitoma registered an assist against the Reds, meaning he has now returned in each of the last three matches to total 21 points during this time.

This represents a continuation of the excellent form Mitoma had shown last month, which saw him voted as WAB December 2022 Brighton Player of the Month.

What makes Mitoma and March particularly attractive to FPL managers is that they are both differentials in the game, owned by only 1.4 percent and 2.6 percent of managers respectively.

Alongside those two, Evan Ferguson (£4.5 million) delivered an assist in Gameweek 20 and Danny Welback (£6.5 million) a goal.

Ferguson has now started the last three Premier League matches and has an attacking return in each of them. He looks like the best budget-enabling forward in the whole game at this moment in time.

The 24 minutes Welbeck played against Liverpool represented his first Premier League outing since the winter break following his return from injury.

In that time on the pitch, he managed to register his first league goal of the season to ensure Brighton bagged all three points.

At the other end end, many FPL managers have been avoiding investment in the Brighton defence. This is because, before the Liverpool victory, the Seagulls had failed to register a shutout since Gameweek 12.

However, they highlighted their potential on Saturday. Robert Sanchez (£4.6 million), Levi Colwill (£4.4 million) and Pervis Estupinan (£4.5 million) all claimed clean sheets, with a bonus point for Sanchez and two for Colwill.

An appealing fixture run awaits Brighton from Gameweek 21 onwards, so owning one of their defenders could be just as productive as investing in attack.

Brighton sit third on the fixture ticker from Gameweek 21 through to Gameweek 30. Only Arsenal and Manchester City have a nicer run on paper and much of that is down to their Double Gameweek 23.

Captain Fantastic
With Arsenal and Manchester United playing each other in Gameweek 21, most FPL managers will likely look towards Erling Haaland (£12.2 million) for the captaincy.

Surprisingly, he has failed to return in his last two Premier League matches before the visit of Spurs to the Etihad Stadium.
