Tomasz Kuszczak voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for February 2013

Three clean sheets out of five helped Brighton and Hove Albion to a hugely impressive 10 points out of 15 in February and the importance of those shutouts is indicated with Tomasz Kuszczak taking a landslide win in our WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month poll.

The Polish goalkeeper bounced back from his howler in the last minute at Birmingham City last month which cost the Albion two dropped points to put in a string of superlative performances. The best of those came in the shock 2-0 win at runaway leaders Cardiff City where he made wonder save after wonder save, including a double stop that was arguably even better than Michel Kuipers at Wolves all those years ago.

He then bettered that with a stunning one handed save from a header in the home game against Burnley and we’ve not even touched upon his heroics in keeping promotion rivals Hull City at bay in the 1-0 win at the Amex which kick started the good run of form.

David Lopez made the final three for the third month running after third places finishes in both our December and January Player of the Month polls, this time moving up into second spot thanks to his scoring of the winner against Burnley and set piece deliveries that would make David Beckham green with envy.

After having his traditional winter’s hibernation in the treatment room, Vicente returned to the side with a bang to take third place. He scored the winner against Hull, the goal in the frustrating draw against Blackburn as well as completely dominating the game on the way to the man-of-the-match award in the victory over Burnley.
