Vicente voted WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for March 2012

It might have taken him the best part of five months to get fit, but boy has it been worth the wait. Vicente is our WeAreBrighton.com Player of the Month for March 2012 and he has won it by an absolute landslide with over 75% of the vote.

Want to know how good Vicente was this month? He’s only a handful of games into his Albion career yet some are already calling him the most naturally gifted player ever to play for the club. It’s not hard to see why. He scored twice from the bench to single-handedly see off Portsmouth at the Amex and then he tore Derby County apart including a spellbinding dribble that saw him go around about eight Rams players before smashing the crossbar from a full 30 yards.

He’s out of contract this season and if Gus Poyet and Tony Bloom have any sense they’ll be chucking the GDP of a small African country at him in order to try and convince him to stay.

It was a good month for the clubs Spanish contingent, with Inigo Calderon picking up second place. The popular vice captain took full advantage of Gonzalo Jara’s three match ban for a harsh red card at Blackpool by reclaiming the right back spot with goals against both Derby and Middlesbrough.

Adam El-Abd made it three top three finishes from the four months since he has been back from injury by taking third place. Fast becoming the Albion’s most consistent player, he has taken to Championship football like a duck to water with rumours of a potential call up to the Egypt national side growing stronger by the week.
